Who are the kitties in your neighborhood?

We have Gonzo, checking out the wall Greg just painted blue.

Hoda, the office cat.

Nola the office dog - who acts like a cat.

The outdoor kitties - from top to bottom:
Ballsie McBalls, the newest stray of the pack, Whiny and Twin.

And Hana and Gonzo snoozing on the bed.

Remembering Cleo

Friday was the one-year anniversary of Cleo's death.
I'm posting this photo of her to honor her memory.
Here she is with a 3 month old Gonzo.

Happy Halloween!!!!

Greg's mother brought us two Halloween spider "hats" for our cats. We won't even think of attempting to put one on Hana. I managed it get it on Gonzo when she was half asleep.

Porch Sitting

We finally had a weekend cool and dry enough to open the house up.

The kitties enjoyed hanging out on the side porch. After her Big Night Out, Gonzo was strangely cautious and jumpy and didn't venture off the porch. In the past she would have been all over the place.

Gonzo's Big Adventure

When I got up this morning, I asked Greg "Is coffee ready?" He replied "I can't find Gonzo." That woke me up! The last time he remembers seeing her was last night and she didn't appear for breakfast. First I looked all over the house, opening closets and calling her name. No luck. She's an indoor cat, we don't usually let her out because she refuses to come in and we have to chase her all over trying to get her back in the house. She might have escaped last night when I came home. She does that sometimes, you open the front door and she zips past you. We walked around the outside of the house calling her name. No Gonzo. It was 7:30 in the morning, way too early to be walking around the neighborhood calling out her name and "here kitty kitty." I was concerned but also didn't want to piss off the neighbors. It was too early to panic. We drank our coffee while reading the paper like we do every morning. It was too quiet without the "dingle dingle" of Gonzo's collar and there was no cat plopping down in the middle of the article you were reading.

After breakfast I walked around the block calling her, peering into the neighbors' yards. I saw one neighbor working in his yard and asked him to let me know if he sees her. I get back to our yard and Greg is turning the compost. We can see the neighbors across the street had come outside, working in their yard. Greg tells me to go talk to them. As I'm talking to them, I hear Greg calling my name "I found her!" He said he heard a mew and she was under our house. She was a little freaked out but ran into the house when Greg opened the door. After eating and a good wash, she holed up and slept all day. Usually she'll come "help" us with what ever chore we are doing but not today.

Here the little darlings are, all zonked out.

Ladder Gazing

Gonzo is perched on her ladder. She gets annoyed when Greg needs to use it for something. She climbs up and down and will sit on top looking out the window. Hana got top billing today on my regular blog, modeling the new rugs.
And it's official - my printer is now a cat bed. Good thing there's a by-pass so I can still print when Gonzo is napping. I put a towel on top to keep cat hair out.

Return of the fang

Just another lazy Saturday afternoon - lazy if you are cat that is.

Here Hana's lounging next to Greg on the bed.
She doesn't really like it when I take her picture.

I was trying to get her to look at the camera when she let rip a huge yawn.

Gonzo squished herself between these two bookcase for her afternoon nap.

A new one for Gonzo... The other morning I was on the couch when I hear a noise. Sounded like Gonzo pushing something (she has broken a number of thing by pushing them off the counter). The cats have one of those fountain watering dishes and she was pushing it across the floor with her head. I scold her, put the fountain back and return to the couch. I hear her doing it again, so this time I squirt her then put the fountain back. I wander off to do something. When I return to the kitchen, the fountain has been pushed as far as the cord would allow. I pick it up and I notice it is dirty and in need of a good scrub. I clean up up, fill with fresh water and it hasn't moved since. Cats have a funny way of telling us stuff.

New and Improved

Hana lounges on our new rug. She likes roll around and will pick a square and hang out on it.

Gonzo shows off her newest spot, the brother HL-12 combination cat bed and laser printer.

the Cats are back!

I have a camera again! It also takes video and of course I've tested it out on the kitties. But I have to figure how to compress it and upload it.
Gonzo has her annual check up tomorrow. She's gotten heavier. Let's see how well she behaves...

Hana "hiding" behind the curtain.

Poor Hana never gets any peace.
I was waiting for Gonzo to attack Hana to video it, but she didn't!

A tisket, a tasket, a kitten and a basket

Still no new camera, but here's a few cute one from April. (But aren't all cat photos cute?)

Here's Gonzo on her toy basket playing with what I call the "dingle" toy. I call it that because it has a jingle bell on it and it the sound it makes is more dingle than jingle. Gonzo's collar also has a bell so I call her "dingle brain" sometimes. You can compare this photo to the ones I took last August to see how she has grown.

This shot shows off Miss Hana's glorious pelt.

And here's an artsy one of them lounging by the window. I love how Gonzo disappears into the shadows. Poor dears won't be able to lounge by an open window until fall when things cool down again.

One Gonzo Year

Not only is today Memorial Day, it also marks ONE YEAR since Gonzo came into our lives.
She weighs in today at an even 9 pounds.

Then.........and.........now.
Same cat, same kitty condo.

Never before published photo! She was sooo little!

This will have to do for a while...

As I mentioned on my other blogs, my digital camera died when it got soaked in the rain. These are from early May and maybe the last kitty pictures until I get a new camera.

Gonzo allllll stretched out.

Hana, keeping one eye open for Gonzo.

Just Hana

It's not easy being the older cat around a kitten. So here are a few snaps of Hana, doing what she does best. Well, maybe second after begging for shrimp.

Happy Birthday Gonzo!

Well, we don't know her real birthday, but she is at least a year old by now. Her vital stats - she's just under 9 pounds. And this is something interesting; back in September I measured her tail-it hasn't gotten any longer since then, still 9.25". According to my cat book, developmentally she's a 15 year old. And she acts like a spoiled teenager. She's a big sweetie when she wants. She still lets me carry her around, slung over my should usually.

She's still very active and loves to play catch. It's hard to take a picture while also trying to throw a toy but I wanted an action shot.

She can jump straight up about 2-3 feet and is very graceful.

She has her prey and is giving it the "bunny feet." I bought this mousie toy for her when I first brought her home. She'd curl up with it when she slept.

Sunday Morning Part Deux

This Sunday morning, things were considerably calmer.

Gonzo plopped down on the pile o' papers from the week and snoozed.

Hana was again in her spot du jour, the green chair. You can tell it's getting warmer when they start sleeping all stretched out like that. They have also thankfully stopped sleeping on top of us to stay warm.

It's a overcast blah day so perfect from messing on the 'puter. And of course Gonzo has to hang around. I was catching up reading blogs and it was hard reading around her swishing tail. Just so my fellow Mac friends don't think I've gone over to the pee cee dark side, here's a shot with Greg's peecee and my Lemon, er I mean Apple. It's acting up again, but this isn't Gonzo for computers so I'll just leave it at that.

Sunday Morning

Like many people, we spend our Sunday mornings drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. You would think this would be a peaceful activity. Not when there's a Gonzo loose!

For example, here's Hana, lounging in the chair.

She suspects Gonzo's up to no good...

Attack!

Hana tries to regain her dignity with a good wash.
Cleo also had to put up with this indignity.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to read the paper. Gonzo's in the chair next to me... looking cute...

Looking nuts...

And then POUNCE!
Hmm... time to trim the claws again. And finally she settles down...

On the section I'm trying to read. *sigh* Where are the comics?
